The Sequence VIII procedure evaluates a lubricant’s performance for resisting copper-, lead-, or tin-bearing corrosion and measures viscous shear stability during high-temperature operating conditions using unleaded fuel.
Sequence VIII Test Equipment and ProcedureA 42.5-cubic inches of displacement (CID) carbureted, single-cylinder, spark-ignition, Cooperative Lubricant Research (CLR) oil test engine is operated with an external oil heater circuit.
